Flood relief work

WORK teams have been dispatched to East China’s Jiangsu Province and Southwest China’s Sichuan Province to guide flood relief efforts, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.

China’s State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters activated a level-IV emergency response for flood risks in the two provinces before dispatching work teams Tuesday.

The headquarters has instructed local authorities to conduct close monitoring work, step up forecasts and alerts, and work to ward off flooding, geological disasters and other salient disaster risks.

Daycare for children

CHINA will step up efforts to provide daycare services for children under 3 in a bid to relieve mothers of the heavy burdens of child-rearing, a health official said Tuesday.

The country now has about 75,000 nurseries for children under 3, which can take in more than 3.6 million children, said Yang Jinrui, a senior official with the National Health Commission, at a seminar marking this year’s World Population Day, which falls on Tuesday.
