SEVEN of Shenzhen’s characteristic industrial clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) were listed on Guangdong’s first batch of cluster list for SMEs, according to a notice recently released by the Guangdong Provincial Industry and Information Technology Department.

As per the notice, 35 clusters from 13 cities in Guangdong entered the list, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Shaoguan and Qingyuan. The clusters stood out among several rounds of jury selections.

According to the provincial interim measures for promoting the development of SME industrial clusters with prominent characteristics, the provincial-level clusters should be competitive among SME industrial clusters. To be a provincial-level cluster, it should satisfy five basic requirements. The leading industry of the cluster should be the local pillar or characteristic industry and the yearly output over the past three years should be over 4 billion yuan (US$560 million).

The seven listed clusters in Shenzhen include Nanshan’s intelligent terminal chip design cluster, Bao’an’s lithium battery-powered product manufacturing cluster and Guangming’s medical diagnosis, monitoring and treatment equipment cluster. (Chen Siqi)
