Ride-hailing service

THE number of app-based ride-hailing vehicles operating in Shenzhen had exceeded 100,000 by the end of June, with 40% of the vehicles receiving over 10 ride requests per day, according to a report released by the municipal transport bureau.

As per the report, 30 ride-hailing platforms are operating in Shenzhen. The city has also witnessed an influx of ride-hailing drivers, with the number increasing by 35,224 in the first half of the year.

A comparison with data released at the end of last year shows that the average daily operational mileage of ride-hailing vehicles with 10 or more daily orders had slightly increased, but the value of average daily orders had experienced a decline of approximately 7.5%.

Summer surge

OVER 2.16 million people passed through Futian Checkpoint in the first 16 days of the month, making it the preferred gateway for inbound and outbound travelers between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the customs authority said.

An average of 135,000 people passed through the checkpoint every day in the first 16 days of the month, with a peak of over 200,000 people in a single day. The convenient and efficient clearance at the checkpoint, along with various factors such as policy adjustments and the summer vacation, contributed to the steady increase in inbound and outbound passenger flow, sznews.com reported, quoting customs officials.

In the first half of the year, nearly 16 million travelers crossed Futian Checkpoint, with an average of 90,000 people per day and a peak of over 200,000 people in a single day.

Credit loans

SHENZHEN has recently unveiled a new financial product, allowing self-employed individuals to access loans solely based on their creditworthiness.

The personal credit loans, with interest rates reduced from the previous 6% to 4.9%, cater specifically to self-employed individuals facing financing difficulties and lacking collaterals or credit records, according to the market supervision authority. They can apply for loans up to 500,000 yuan (US$69,800) through online applications and up to 1 million yuan onsite at banks.

As of June this year, Shenzhen had registered a total of 1.56 million self-employed businesses.
