ABOUT 20 representatives from French enterprises visited Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics Co., a leading global provider of medical devices and solutions, at its head office in Nanshan District on Thursday.

The representatives are part of the business delegation of nearly 20 French startups that won the Digital InPulse award, a competition initiated by Huawei Technologies France to boost the development startups. They showed keen interest in the medical devices presented and attentively listened to the introduction to Mindray’s medical solutions, which are supported by cutting-edge information technologies.

The primary objective of the visit was to explore Shenzhen’s medical and health industry, the event’s organizers said. The delegation’s itinerary includes visits to Huawei, Mindray, the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital, Shenzhen People’s Hospital, and Shenzhen Emergency Medical Center.

Walter Janiver, South China branch director of CCI France Chine, one of the organizers of the event, said: “For most of the entrepreneurs, it is their first time to be in Shenzhen. The event will help them explore business opportunities with Shenzhen’s enterprises and institutions. The trip will also be a good opportunity to boost Sino-French economic communication.”

During an interview, Héléna Jérome, CEO of Safehear, a French startup specializing in voice communication, said: “I’m very surprised about the new technologies for hospitals. Shenzhen has great potential in terms of the medical field.”

The company’s first project, communication devices dedicated to hearing protection, mainly serves factory workers who are exposed to high noise levels. Jerome said she intended to establish partnerships with manufacturing and research and development entities in Shenzhen during the trip.

Victor Boyer, partnership manager of Biomede, another French startup, was impressed by Shenzhen’s tall buildings.

“The innovative products are well supported in Shenzhen. We’d like to address the Chinese market, exploring collaboration opportunities with Shenzhen enterprises,” he said.

The activity is also one of the Multinationals Trips in Shenzhen series organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the China Council for Promotion of International Trade to serve local enterprises and expand their global links.
