A welcome ceremony is held for Guyanese President Irfaan Ali on Thursday at the airport in Chengdu, capital city of Southwest China’s Sichuan Province, who will attend the opening ceremony of the 31st summer edition of the FISU World University Games on Friday. The Universiade, which runs through Aug. 8, will feature 269 events across 18 sports. Chengdu will become the third city in the Chinese mainland to host the biennial Summer Universiade, following Beijing in 2001 and Shenzhen in 2011.   (More on P4)  Xinhua
