A MAN died after he was accidentally shot while instructing a client at a shooting club in Yueyang, Hunan Province, local police reported Wednesday. According to a police notice, the client, surnamed Liu, visited the club for a shooting experience Saturday with three others. While a club employee surnamed Du was offering Liu instructions, the gun accidentally went off and the bullet struck Du. Club workers promptly sent Du to a hospital for emergency treatment, but he died Monday. Liu has been detained on suspicion of committing negligent homicide. The legal representative of the club has also been detained on suspicion of causing a serious accident due to negligence. China strictly bans the possession of firearms by civilians but shooting clubs can operate with licenses. The club obtained an operations license in November 2019, police said.(China Daily) |
