Immerse in Chen Fenwan’s paper-cutting world
    2023-08-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

IN a remarkable coincidence that aligns with the global pink craze sparked by the “Barbie” movie frenzy, a creative paper-cutting exhibition immersed in captivating pink hues is currently underway at the Jupiter Museum of Art in Futian District.

Young Guangdong artist Chen Fenwan is presenting her collection of imaginative paper-cutting artworks, each one meticulously crafted in shades of mesmerizing pink or other vibrant colors. Graduating from the printmaking department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, she combines Chinese paper-cutting with contemporary art to explore the multi-dimensional boundaries of art in the public area. She excels at blending personal experiences with collective memories, seeking emotional resonance within her works and aiming to engage with a wider range of domains and audiences.

Many of Chen’s paper-cutting artworks adopt the form of human palms. “For no particular reason, I like the symbolism of palms. They remind me of the thousand hands of Buddha, or more precisely, they evoke feelings of love, as we use our hands to touch and care for the people we love.”

Dates: Until Oct. 29

Tickets: 128 yuan

Venue: Jupiter Museum of Art, Futian District (木星美术馆)

Metro: Line 3 to Fubao Station (福保站), Exit B (SD News)
