Railway passengers

THE number of passenger trips operated by China’s railways soared 124.9% year on year during the first half of this year, data from the Ministry of Transport showed. More than 1.77 billion passenger trips were made via railways during this period.

MACAO will make top-down efforts to better its English-language education in a bid to train English-speaking talent for the country, vowed Kong Chi-meng, director of Macao SAR Government Education and Youth Development Bureau, on Friday.

Kong made the pledge before an audience of diverse backgrounds attending the Global English Education China Assembly, which kicked off Friday.

According to a study published in the journal Science, the ferroelectric material not only retains its functions when stretched two-fold but also returns to its original shape once the stress is relieved.
