Anti-dumping measure

THE Chinese Commerce Ministry yesterday announced that deposits will be levied on polycarbonate (PC) imports from the Taiwan region starting from today as an anti-dumping measure.

PC imports from Taiwan have engaged in dumping activities, causing concrete damages to the mainland’s PC industry, the ministry said in a statement, citing a preliminary investigation.

Kuaizhou-1A rocket

CHINA successfully launched a Kuaizhou-1A carrier rocket to send five new satellites into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province yesterday.

The A to E satellites belonging to the Head-3 micro-satellite constellation were launched at 1:32 p.m. (Beijing Time), and entered the planned orbit successfully.

Ecological cases

EIGHT courts in Beijing have set up tribunals to handle lawsuits related to the environment and ecology yesterday, as the capital’s new step to advance ecological civilization by rule of law.

One tribunal is located at the Beijing No. 4 Intermediate People’s Court, while the other seven are at district-level courts, including in Fangshan, Mentougou, Yanqing and Pinggu.

Data released by the high court showed that courts across Beijing have heard roughly 900 environmental cases every year since 2021, mainly concerning noise pollution, waste dumping, illegal fishing, illegal occupation of farmlands and illegal hunting.

On June 28, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the country’s top legislative body, designated Aug. 15 as National Ecology Day.
