Dust storm control

CHINESE researchers have made significant headway in the study of the feedback mechanism between dust aerosol and dust weather. This research is instrumental in aiding the prevention and control of dust storms, according to Lanzhou University.

The study provides strong support for a more comprehensive understanding of the dust weather feedback mechanism, improving dust forecasting and dust control capabilities, said Chen Siyu, leader of the study and professor with the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University.

Fruit shipment

A BATCH of fresh longan produced in Maoming, a major agricultural production area in Guangdong Province, was exported to Hong Kong via the port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on Monday evening.

The shipment marked the first batch of fruit supplied to Hong Kong under a program enabling the export of fresh food via the bridge at designated times, which was implemented July 1.

Cultural exhibition

AN intangible cultural heritage exhibition will take place in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from Aug. 23 to 27, local authorities have announced.

The exhibition will showcase 330 intangible cultural heritage projects and attract 296 inheritors from Xinjiang and 19 other provincial-level regions that offer pairing assistance to Xinjiang, said the Xinjiang regional culture and tourism department. The exhibition will be held in the city of Aksu in Aksu Prefecture.
