Security agency thwarts another espionage case
    2023-08-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Ministry of Public Security announced yesterday that a Chinese man employed in a government agency is currently being investigated for spying on behalf of the U. S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

While studying in Japan, the man, identified as Hao, encountered a U.S. embassy official named Ted. Following Ted’s departure, he introduced Hao to his colleague, Li Jun, which led to a continued collaboration between them.

Prior to completing his studies in Japan, Li disclosed his affiliation with the CIA to Hao, persuading him to become a spy. Upon returning to China, Hao was appointed to a prominent government department. In exchange for rewards, he shared sensitive information with CIA agents. Currently, the case remains under investigation.

This statement comes less than two weeks after the ministry announced the discovery of an individual named Zeng, who is suspected of engaging in espionage for the CIA. (www.shine.cn)
