THE EyeShenzhen multilingual website will be officially launched Saturday, which marks the 43rd anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. The website’s official launch represents a substantial leap in the city’s effort to establish itself as a global metropolis.

As a brand-new global communication brand of Shenzhen, EyeShenzhen has been progressively evolving into an international digital communication platform, encompassing a multilingual website, an overseas social media matrix, an urban digital image IP platform, and the development of a global communication ambassador program. It aims to offer information services globally and present a new image of the city.

The website, put into trial operation June 10, features nine foreign languages, namely English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Arabic and Portuguese, providing all-inclusive and up-to-date information about Shenzhen.        (Continued on P3)

The website provides e-services interconnected with government department websites to help expats deal with the paperwork of visa applications and other issues.

In addition to the website, an English-language WeChat account, a WeChat Channel account and a TikTok account by the same name are also available. Users can share EyeShenzhen articles via Weibo, WeChat, Facebook and X with just one click.

Via the EyeShenzhen multilingual website, users can also subscribe to its Newsletter, a monthly English-language subscription service featuring content produced with the help of artificial intelligence. In addition, users can explore the AI-powered Chatbot services, which are available to answer questions about transportation, housing, dining, and other aspects of life in Shenzhen.

The Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassador Program was also recently officially launched. It aims at inviting high-end foreign talents with varied levels of influence as the city’s promotion officers, including prominent internet influencers and expert opinion leaders in multiple fields, to tell their Shenzhen stories and share their observations on the city on international social media platforms, thus broadening the city’s international communication community.

Currently, around 30 expats have been recruited as the first batch of communication ambassadors.

Leveraging music as a medium to open the door of communication between Shenzhen and the world, the music “Love of Shenzhen,” jointly composed by Chinese pianist Lang Lang and renowned Broadway composer Andrew Lippa, was officially unveiled Aug. 18 as the theme music of the multilingual info portal EyeShenzhen.

In the future, through his world tours and other art events, Lang will join hands with EyeShenzhen to continue to help Shenzhen promote its global image.

As Shenzhen’s first official English information portal, EyeShenzhen was launched in May 2016 under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee. It is run by Shenzhen Daily, the only English-language daily newspaper in Guangdong Province. “EyeShenzhen” also sounds like “爱深圳” in Chinese, which means “love Shenzhen.”
