A DELEGATION comprising seven program directors, columnists, journalists and an anchor from Turkish media institutions embarked on a two-day visit to Shenzhen on Thursday, hoping to gain insights into Shenzhen’s technological progress and innovation ecosystem.

On the first day, they visited three leading high-tech companies in Shenzhen, namely BYD, Tencent and Mindray, deepening their understanding of Shenzhen’s role as a global technology hub.

Cengizhan Kocahal, a program director from NTV, a Turkish news channel, and the leader of the media group, said the trip to Shenzhen is inspiring.

“Before coming here, I had done some research and was aware that Shenzhen is a city renowned for its support of startups and its excellence in high technology. And now, I’m experiencing it myself,” Kocahal, a veteran journalist who has been in the industry for 30 years, said. “I think people from all over the world should come and visit Shenzhen. The city’s dedication to high-tech and innovation serves as a valuable reference point.”

Senem Ilgaz, an editor and anchor from Halk TV with 28 years of experience in media, also shared her impressions of Shenzhen. She said, “Before coming to Shenzhen, I had read about the city’s excellence in urban planning and architectural designs. Shenzhen has truly lived up to my expectations.”

The media veteran was impressed by the city’s high forest coverage rate and forward-looking urban design, particularly the city’s abundant greenery. “When I return to Türkiye, I will highlight five key aspects of Shenzhen to my audience: its youthful energy, commitment to environmental sustainability, inclusivity, intelligence and openness,” she said.

The delegation’s itinerary will continue with visits to UBTech and the Qianhai International Convention Center on Friday, providing them with further insights into Shenzhen’s dynamic and innovative environment.
