SHENZHEN will make every effort to promote the construction of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone and build it into a core area for international scientific and technological innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) as well as a world-class research hub.

Mayor Qin Weizhong made the remarks at a news conference held by the State Council Information Office on the development plan for the Shenzhen park of the Hetao zone in Beijing yesterday, which was attended by officials from the central authorities, Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Currently, the Shenzhen park of the Hetao zone has gathered a batch of technological innovation resources, explored a series of open innovation initiatives, and built a number of scientific and technological innovation infrastructure.

Shenzhen will strengthen collaboration with Hong Kong in the development of Hetao, with a view to seizing the vast development opportunities brought about by the zone and promoting the high-quality innovation and technology development of the GBA, Qin said.
