China’s consumer prices returned to positive territory in August while factory-gate price declines slowed, data showed Saturday. The consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.1% last month from a year earlier. The increase followed July’s drop of 0.3% — the first decline in more than two years. Core inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy costs, climbed 0.8%.

报道中的core inflation即“核心通胀”，是衡量商品服务价格变动的一种指标，不包括某些被认为具有波动性或暂时性的项目，例如食品和能源价格。
