OVER 1,000 cutting-edge elderly care products and technologies from some 200 companies from around the world will be on display at the first Shenzhen International Smart Senior Care Industry Expo, which will take place at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District from tomorrow to Sunday.

The expo will also feature a series of forums attended by academicians, experts, scholars and entrepreneurs, serving as an international platform for exchange and cooperation in the smart elderly care industry, according to a press conference hosted by the Information Office of the Shenzhen Municipal Government yesterday.

Over 20 cutting-edge tech products will debut at roadshows, presenting diverse application scenarios in elderly care.

“The expo will highlight a full-scenario smart elderly care experience zone that aims to present how smart technologies empower elderly care, allowing visitors to keep up with the latest smart elderly care products and technologies,” Wu Yuanxiang, deputy head of the city’s civil affairs bureau, said.

Covering an exhibition area of 15,000 sqm, the expo will set up four major exhibition areas.

The expo is hosted by State-owned company Shum Yip Group, and co-organized by Shenzhen Wellbeing and Wellness Group.

Backed by Shum Yip Group, Shenzhen Wellbeing and Wellness Group is a large State-owned enterprise focusing on health, elderly care and childcare. It is also an important experimental reform platform for Shenzhen to explore holistic solutions for taking care of the old and the young.

At present, over 70 health care projects have been developed across the city, creating a service network that integrates elderly care, childcare and medical care, according to Yan Zhongyu, vice president of Shum Yip Group.

Hu Yueming, general manager of Shenzhen Wellbeing and Wellness Group, said the expo aims to showcase the achievements of Shenzhen enterprises in smart elderly care. Additionally, multiple investment and financing roadshows will be held to connect exhibitors and investors.

An in-depth research report on China’s smart technologies in the elderly care industry will be released at the expo.

In recent years, Shenzhen has ramped up efforts to become a model city in improving people’s wellbeing, especially in elderly care. The city’s elderly care service regulations were put into force March 1, 2021.

Shenzhen has also pledged to expand the high-quality supply of health products in its efforts to develop 20 strategic emerging industries.
