SZ wins big at national skills competition
    2023-09-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN contestants have won four gold, two silver, and three bronze medals as well as nine honorable mentions at the 2nd National Vocational Skills Competition that wrapped up in Tianjin on Tuesday, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Shenzhen Institute of Technology (SIT) made a strong showing, with the institute’s contestants earning all four gold medals, one silver medal, one bronze medal, and one honorable mention.

The total number of medals won by SIT this year surpassed that of the first edition of the competition in 2020, where its competitors took home four gold medals and one silver medal.

The National Vocational Skills Competition is the largest of its kind since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The Guangdong delegation, which participated in all 109 events this year, also had a standout performance, amassing a total of 23 gold, 10 silver, and 13 bronze medals, along with 63 honorable mentions.

Huang Jiajie, a cloud computing contestant from SIT who clinched a gold medal, received the prestigious title of “Guangdong Delegation’s Best Player” in recognition of his outstanding performance at the national competition.

According to SIT, its competitors made breakthroughs in the jewelry processing and chemical laboratory technology events this year. Contestants from the institute participated in these two categories for the first time and won one gold medal and an honorable mention, respectively.

According to the competition’s reward policy, the top five competitors in each individual event will be awarded the title of “National Technical Expert” and will be presented with certificates upon approval.

They will also be included in the national training team for the 47th WorldSkills Competition that will take place in September next year.
