JIA Illustration Award works shown at C Future City
    2023-09-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AWARD-WINNING works from the Japan Illustrators’ Association (JIA) are on display at C Future City in Futian District.

Lithuanian illustrator and graphic designer Laimute Varkalaite’s inspiration comes from the environment she lives in Rumšiškes, Lithuania. “My home and the environment in which I live are the basis of everything I create. That inspires me to discover simplicity and the sense of wonder in my creative ideas,” she said.

Using a limited color palette to create dreamlike compositions, Varkalaite tries to achieve a calming and positive impact on the perceiver. “I strongly believe that visual stories can evoke wonderful feelings, can make us much happier and inspire us to fall in love with life. I’m convinced that one person can inspire another and even be a reason to take significant action to achieve personal goals. Thus, creation acts as a bridge which strongly and persistently connects people.”

Israeli artist and illustrator Sigal Caspin Segal is known for her whimsical characters and fantastical scenes. Her artworks combine intricate details with quirky narratives, all inspired by nature, ancient mythologies, folk art, fairy tales, science fiction and fantasy worlds.

The JIA is an esteemed organization that recognizes outstanding illustrators for their exceptional works in the field of illustration. The association annually presents awards to talented artists who have demonstrated creative excellence in their artworks.
