Exhibition showcases Sichuan archaeological discoveries
    2023-09-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A bronze mask, believed to be the largest mask ever discovered at the Sanxingdui site in Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, in 2021, is currently on display at Gallery 8 of the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) in West Kowloon Cultural District. The museum’s new exhibition, titled “Gazing at Sanxingdui: New Archaeological Discoveries in Sichuan,” opens to the public today and will run until Jan. 8, 2024. This special exhibition showcases a total of 120 artifacts from the Sanxingdui, Baodun, and Jinsha sites in Sichuan Province. Among these exhibits, 55 items have been carefully selected from recent archaeological findings at the sites between 2020 and 2022. Remarkably, more than half of these items are being displayed outside of Sichuan Province and the Chinese mainland for the first time.Photos by Wang Haolan
