Xiaomo Intl. Logistics Port exports 10,000th auto
    2023-09-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

XIAOMO International Logistics Port in Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone announced Thursday that it has exported 10,000 automobiles.

Part of Shenzhen Port, Xiaomo port is a key stronghold in Shenzhen’s effort to  build a new-generation world-class automobile city.

In December 2021, the port’s Phase I officially commenced operations, which is designed to handle 4.5 million tons of cargo a year, with two 100,000-ton berths and a 50,000-ton berth.

In December last year, the port was approved by the State as a national first-class open port, obtaining permit to launch international logistics services. Currently, the port has opened three domestic and international ro-ro shipping routes.

According to its development plan, the port plans to build a total of 49 berths in the future, with a gross annual throughput of 75 million tons.

It will handle about 300,000 vehicles annually for import and export by 2025, and 1 million by 2030. It will explore trading in auto spare parts, frozen meats and aquatic products, as well as electronic products with a yearly throughput of 2 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).

Shenzhen is accelerating its development as an international logistics center. Xiaomo port is building itself into an important strategic logistics hub in the city, with a focus on the development of smart and contactless logistics. It aims to become an eastern gateway port in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, an automotive ro-ro hub in South China and an international automotive trade hub.             (SD News)
