THE just concluded 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou once again led the public to experience the charms of sports.

As a citizen of Shenzhen, I’m proud that my city has not only hosted such important sports events as the WTA Finals, FIBA Basketball World Cup, Volvo China Open, World Drone Championship, and NBA China, but has also worked hard to promote an active lifestyle among its residents.

According to official statistics, Shenzhen has built 42 sports parks, 58 large stadiums, 1,216 soccer fields, over 1,453 kilometers of fitness trails, and a total of 30,411 sports venues and facilities. These developments have provided residents with convenient access to exercise facilities in their neighborhoods.

Shenzhen has also issued consumption vouchers for sports goods and venues in all its districts. These vouchers serve as incentives for people to purchase sports products and book exercise venues at discounted prices. This initiative provides opportunities for individuals, especially those with lower incomes, to participate in fitness exercises.

Shenzhen has also taken steps to support the local sports industry. As a member of the Greater Bay Area, the city has fostered sports exchange in the form of competitions and forums with Hong Kong and Macao, allowing for the sharing of resources and free flow of talents.

With these efforts in place, Shenzhen residents are increasingly embracing an active and healthy lifestyle.
