MORE than 100 experts, professors, and arts industry insiders gathered to exchange insights and ideas aimed at promoting Chinese culture on a global scale at the Second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Art Innovation Forum that was held at the Yinhu Convention Center in Luohu District yesterday.

The forum, themed “Global Presentation of China’s Artistic Images,” featured an opening ceremony and four sessions.

“Shenzhen is a right place for this forum. As a pioneer city for reform and opening up, Shenzhen serves as a bridge for international exchanges,” Gao Jianping, president of the Shenzhen Literature and Art Critics Association, said. He also emphasized the importance of developing contemporary arts and articulating the thoughts and concepts behind artworks to enhance international understanding and acceptance.

During the opening ceremony, eight art innovation cases and six arts research projects from Guangdong Province were recognized and awarded with certificates. Among the art innovation cases was the Shenzhen original dance drama “Wing Chun,” which recently made its overseas debut in Singapore, earning critical acclaim. The drama was performed by the Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theater.

Li Chenchen, vice president of the theater, shared their successful experience, saying, “Artistic creation should be rooted in each individual, employing intricate details to portray their lives and evoke sincere emotions.”

Another recognized art innovation case was the China Guanlan Original Printmaking Base in Longhua District, which transformed a historic Hakka-style residence into an international artistic hub.

Zhao Jiachun, deputy director of the base, explained that the integration of international elements into the Hakka-style residence through printmaking represented an artistic breakthrough. “The base is dedicated to establishing an international cultural hub, hosting international exhibitions, and facilitating exchanges with artists from around the world,” Zhao said. “These efforts not only improve printmaking skills, but also contribute to the overall development of the arts in Shenzhen, sharing the city’s stories with global artists and audiences.”
