Page Chen, G 10, RDF International School This summer vacation, I visited the National University of Singapore, one of the top universities in the world. The university campus showcases a lot of beautiful natural and human-made scenery. However, what truly impressed me were the thought-provoking words inscribed on a wall: “The world is undergoing a constant digital transformation. Who will make sure no one is left behind?” Within the realm of digital transformation, there exist four aspects: process transformation, business model transformation, domain transformation, and cultural transformation. A process transformation primarily aims to streamline internal operations, fostering simplicity and enhanced efficiency. Concurrently, business model transformations involve digitizing products or services previously provided through alternative means, allowing companies to rejuvenate specific aspects of their operations. Domain transformation entails leaders venturing into different markets, expanding their influence and impact. Meanwhile, cultural transformation focuses on cultivating an organizational culture that aligns with the digital era. What attitude should we adopt when undertaking these transformations? The key to successful transformation lies in courage. Numerous studies in psychology have demonstrated that people tend to resist change or challenges due to fear of the unknown and unfamiliar circumstances. Yet, we often discover that things are not as daunting as they initially appear as long as we are willing to change. In fact, we often find joy in overcoming the challenges. Fostering an inclusive mindset is just as important. It is human nature to seek comfort and cling to familiar routines, often adopting a fixed mindset. However, in our rapidly changing world, it is imperative to widen our horizons, explore new concepts, and remain open to the possibilities that transformation offers. Regardless of whether it is digital or personal transformation, the underlying objective remains the same: to pursue a better life and evolve into better individuals. Digital transformations hold immense power to shape the world we inhabit. Thus, we must pluck up courage and maintain an inclusive mindset as we prepare ourselves for personal growth in mind, body, and soul. |
