SAVORING spicy noodles from Chongqing, dried beef from Inner Mongolia, and enjoying a sip of Italian wine, visitors to the 109th China Food and Drinks Fair can immerse themselves in an unparalleled culinary and shopping experience.

The fair, which is being held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District, boasts participation from 4,012 exhibitors representing 36 countries and regions. Visitors have the opportunity to take part in a diverse array of activities, including exciting lucky draws, captivating live performances, and, most notably, the chance to savor a delightful selection of food and beverages.

Shenzhen is making its debut as the host of this prestigious fair, which boasts an impressive 68-year history. As one of China’s oldest and most prominent large-scale professional exhibitions, the fair is regarded as a barometer for the country’s ever-evolving food and beverage industry. The ongoing fair, covering an area of 220,000 square meters, stands as the largest autumn edition in the biannual event’s history.

At the 318 Highway Craft Beer Tavern booth, Zhou Yu, an executive from the company, expressed his delight at connecting with around a dozen buyers on the first day of the fair. They struck deals involving around 1 million yuan (US$137,003).

Ye Long, deputy general manager of Inner Mongolia Yubao Agriculture Development Co. Ltd., said that Shenzhen’s appeal to manufacturers and dealers stems from its excellent facilities and convenient transportation.

For the first time, the organizer has designated Hall 20 for exhibitors from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). A total of 339 enterprises from the GBA showcased their products at the event.

Hua Jun from Shenzhen Cereals Research Institute said that Shenzhen Cereals Holdings Co. Ltd. had organized a total of 10 subsidiaries to attend the fair, bringing with them a diverse range of products, including cereals, edible oils, tea, liquor, and seasoning.

Zhu Yongqing, manager of Shenzhen Runxingcheng Science and Technology Co., a food products dealer, underscored the fair’s significance as a platform for dealers to negotiate for the best prices and secure high-quality products.
