Sit well with 使…满意
    2023-10-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: Why did Bob fire Mary? I think she’s quite efficient for a salesperson.

B: Bob fired Mary because she wouldn’t dress sexy to please male clients. That doesn’t sit well with me.

Note: “To sit well with” means “acceptable” or “agreeable” to one’s values or sensibilities. The meaning of this idiom is quite obvious. While “not to sit well with” shows a feeling of uneasiness with a situation, as if someone is sitting on the edge of an uncomfortable seat. A similar expression is “to sit right with.”
