THE income of China’s basic medical insurance fund, which includes maternity insurance, increased 9.3% year on year to over 2.09 trillion yuan (US$291 billion) from January to August, the National Healthcare Security Administration said yesterday.

China-Europe train

A FULLY loaded China-Europe freight train arrived Monday in Madrid, Spain, the first such train from North China’s Shanxi Province to reach Spain.

This batch of cargo left Shanxi on Sept. 16, traveling through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany and France before arriving in Madrid. The journey covered an approximate total distance of 12,000 kilometers.

Space science co-op

SCIENTISTS exchanged views on the latest progress, major achievements and frontier trends of space science at the 3rd China Space Science Assembly in Huzhou City, East China’s Zhejiang Province, calling for deeper international cooperation in space science.

The assembly, held from Saturday to yesterday, has attracted more than 1,000 experts and scholars.

The China-Europe joint space mission, Solar Wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE), is scheduled to enter space in 2025, said Wang Chi, director of the National Space Science Center under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, at the assembly.
