Flights halted SHENZHEN Bao’an International Airport experienced a temporary suspension of flights Monday night following the detection of an unidentified flying object in its vicinity. However, at 11:49 p.m., the airport announced on its official Weibo account that operations had returned to normal. Earlier in the day, a Weibo blogger claimed that the airport disruptions were caused by a flying drone, resulting in over 70 flight delays and 30 flights being diverted. Border crossings ON Saturday, Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint witnessed a record high number of border crossings, with 130,000 passenger trips recorded. The high traffic was due to the three-day holiday that Hong Kong residents enjoyed from Saturday to Monday, in celebration of the Double Ninth Festival, also known as the Chongyang Festival, which falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. As of Sunday noon, the checkpoint had recorded 166,000 passenger trips for journeys between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, with 70% of the travelers being Hong Kong residents. |
