Han Ximin 1824295095@qq.com E-BIKE riders in Shenzhen will face fines ranging from 500 to 1,000 yuan (US$63.81-136.62) for illegal parking in areas such as building lobbies, stairwells, inside elevators, or within residential and office buildings, according to the city’s newly revised firefighting regulations that will take effect Nov. 1. Workplaces found to have e-bikes parked illegally will be subject to fines ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 yuan, as per the regulations. The fines are apparently aimed at minimizing the risks from electric bikes catching fires. There have been reports of lithium batteries installed on e-bikes exploding or bursting into flames. Existing regulations on e-bikes have set fines for other violations such as riding without a license, entering restricted areas, using fake license plates, and failing to wear helmets. E-bikers without licenses or license plates will be warned or fined 50 yuan. Those who deliberately conceal or tamper with their license plates will face a fine of 500 yuan. E-bikers caught entering restricted areas during restricted time periods will have their bikes impounded and be fined 2,000 yuan. Bikes with forged license plates or individuals found to have forged license plates will be subject to impoundment and a 5,000 yuan fine. E-bikers who do not wear helmets will receive a 200 yuan fine. Meanwhile, those who park their bikes in a way that obstructs roads or pedestrian traffic will receive a warning and be fined 200 yuan. |
