When Halloween meets Chinese classic

A HALLOWEEN event is being held at the Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages theme park in Nanshan District, offering tourists a thrilling experience.

The theme park draws inspiration from “The Classic of Mountains and Seas,” a Chinese classic text containing mythic geography and stories of mystical creatures. Scenes, characters, and activities based on this text have been created, including four haunted houses, 10 adventure zones, more than 30 performances, and a vast sea of lights spread across an area of 320,000 square meters.

To ensure the most authentic portrayal of characters from “The Classic of Mountains and Seas,” the park’s non-player characters dedicate nearly three hours each day to applying makeup. They strive for perfection in every aspect, including facial makeup, costumes, props, body language, eye color, overall skin tone, and intricate hand details.

During the event which runs through Nov. 5, the miniature areas of Chinese tourist attractions will be illuminated, bringing them to life. Moreover, more than 50 spots will feature dreamy light and shadow effects, creating picturesque settings for visitors to capture beautiful photos and create unforgettable memories.

Venue: Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages, Nanshan District (锦绣中华 • 民俗村)

Metro: Line 1 to OCT Station (华侨城站), Exit D
