Old car repair plant turned into creativity block
    2023-11-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AFTER two years of renovation, an old car repair plant in Longgang District has been transformed into the 4,300-square-meter Creativity and Innovation Center (CIC). The center and the newly built Manxin Hotel, youth apartments, offices, shops and restaurants form the Longcheng Creativity Commune (Longcheng CC).

The CIC includes exhibition halls for digital creative works, a dome theater and studios, and also offers services for conferences, forums, performances, lectures, and cultural exhibitions.

To discover and cultivate outstanding digital creative artists globally, while providing a platform for emerging talents, the SeeD Pilot Project, featuring digital art exhibitions, residency programs and workshops, has recently been launched in the center.

Now under the project, 36 Chinese and international artists are showcasing 24 sets of digital creative works at the “Virtual Lab” exhibition. Through their respective digital creative concepts, the exhibition presents reflections on the multidimensional impact of digital technology on the world.

The Longcheng CC, near Huanggekeng Station on Metro Line 16, aims to become a cultural venue where people can participate in artistic activities. Through music festivals, pet events, digital nomad workshops, exhibitions and more, the block will provide a diverse cultural and artistic experience for the residents.(Cao Zhen)
