STARTING Friday, flower lovers can immerse themselves in a sea of bougainvilleas at Lianhua Hill Park in Futian District, the main venue of the 2023 Shenzhen Bougainvillea Show.

The annual Shenzhen Bougainvillea Show, which was first held in the city in 1999, also set up a subvenue at the Bougainvillea Valley Park in Bao’an District this year. The show will run through Nov. 19.

Themed “Beautiful Encounter on the Blossoming Country Road,” the flower show is being held in conjunction with the fifth Shenzhen Book Fair to combine the scents of flowers and books, and create a harmonious blend of nature and culture.

It is worth noticing that the city’s first park coffee festival is also being held in Lianhua Hill Park (adjacent to the south gate of the park), and will run through the whole flower show period.

About 100 coffee brands, mainly from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, will join the park coffee festival to allow visitors to sip a cup of coffee while admiring over 280 species of beautiful bougainvilleas in the park.

The flower show at the Futian main venue includes three garden exhibition areas. The exquisite garden exhibition area, located at the intersection of Jingui and Honglan roads in the park, covers 18,500 square meters.

Additionally, a total of 10 horticulture companies have created colorful garden scenes featuring bougainvillea (about 12,000 square meters) on the large lawn adjacent to the park’s south gate. Floral artworks designed by students from local universities and colleges are also being displayed in the area close to the UpperHills shopping mall.

The Bao’an subvenue is presenting over 150 bougainvillea species.

All the parking spots of Lianhua Hill Park will be closed to visitors during the flower show, according to the city’s urban management authority.

However, visitors can take the Metro instead, with the park being close to Metro stations such as Children’s Palace on Lines 3 and 4, and Lianhua West on Line 2.
