Shenzhen Book Fair

More than 600 publishing companies will sell 1.59 million books at the main venue of the Shenzhen Book Fair, where readers can also purchase imported books from Random House, Penguin Group and Bloomsbury Publishing. Additionally, the Shenzhen Publishing House will sell French-language books at the fair.

Subvenues for the book fair are located at Shenzhen Book City’s Luohu, Nanshan, Bao’an, Longgang and Longhua stores, as well as Maxland in Guangming and Easyread Books at Zhongshan Park in Nanshan District.

Dates: Nov. 10-19

Main venue: West square and inside Shenzhen Book City CBD Store, Futian District (深圳书城中心城及西广场)

Metro: Line 3 or 4 to Children’s Palace Station (少年宫站), Exit D

Top 10 children’s books

The annual list of the top 10 children’s books of the 24th Shenzhen Reading Month will be unveiled at a ceremony.

Time: 7 p.m., Nov. 11

Venue: Big steps, south area, Shenzhen Book City CBD Store, Futian District (深圳书城中心城南区大台阶)

Metro: Line 3 or 4 to Children’s Palace Station (少年宫站), Exit D

Lecture

Liu Xiaoming, former Chinese Ambassador to the U.K. and a member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Foreign Policy Advisory Group, will give a lecture based on his book “Tell China’s Story.” Drawing from his many years of public diplomacy experience in the U.K., he will share insights on how to effectively narrate Chinese stories, enabling the world to understand China.

Time: 10-11:30 a.m., Nov. 11

Venue: Big steps, north area, Shenzhen Book City CBD Store, Futian District (深圳书城中心城北区大台阶)

Summit

The Second Reading Promotion (Shenzhen) Summit will center on digital publishing, quality publishing and new publishing trends. Experts and scholars from the domestic publishing industry, such as Wu Shulin and Nie Zhenning, will be invited to explore innovative pathways for publishing reform and development in the new era.

Time: 2-4:30 p.m., Nov. 10

Venue: The Westin Shenzhen Nanshan (深圳益田威斯汀酒店)

Metro: Line 1 or 2 to Window of the World Station, Exit A (Cao Zhen)
