PARTICIPANTS of the second “carnival” for teachers and students from Shenzhen and Taiwan universities believed the event is beneficial to people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

The event, which was launched at a ceremony yesterday at the Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) in Nanshan District, will include field trips, team building and experience-sharing seminars for over 100 participants. It will run through tomorrow.

Wu Yi-chun from Taiwan said the event provides Taiwan students a perfect chance to learn about Shenzhen and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promotes better cross-Strait understanding.

Wu is pursuing a master’s degree in chemistry at the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School. She was invited to speak at the opening ceremony of the event, which was She said through the event, students on both sides not only can contribute to the peaceful and integrated cross-Strait development, but also improve their personal development.

Lin Zejian, a graduate from SZPU, once visited Taiwan for an exchange program.

“We had fun talks on delicious local food and visited beautiful landscapes. I have somehow formed a special affection for Taiwan since then,” Lin said.

Taiwan participants will visit venues such as the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone. The first edition of the event was held in Shenzhen in June.
