TOURISTS exploring the picturesque Yangtai Mountain in the Shiyan area of Bao’an District were treated to a surprise encounter when they spotted a red fox during their hike, Dute News reported.

The fox was said to be different from another dark red fox spotted in the mountain’s parking lot.

Witnesses observed these foxes displaying minimal fear of humans, often seen foraging for food both in the mountainous terrain and near the parking lot.

Lan Jiahe, director of the Shiyan area of Yangtai Mountain Park, said that a security guard initially detected a fox roaming the mountain. While these foxes are generally mild and timid, citizens are urged not to feed them and advised to maintain a safe distance. This precautionary measure is crucial for the well-being of both humans and the wild animals, Lan said.
