Innovation contest

THE regional contests for the seventh Shenzhen Innovation and Entrepreneurship International Competition recently concluded across 14 subvenues spanning 13 countries.

With a total of 197 projects, the regional contest winners are set to advance to the finals, scheduled to take place in Shenzhen in April 2024, according to sources from the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

The competition had attracted 3,531 participants around the world who presented a total of 3,265 projects.

Green wheels

A FLEET of 32 hydrogen-powered garbage transportation vehicles has recently been deployed to the OCT Garbage Transfer Station in Nanshan District. Procured by Shenzhen Energy Environment Protection Co. Ltd., each vehicle is capable of achieving a carbon emission reduction of 6 tons annually.

Shenzhen is actively advancing the adoption of hydrogen-powered vehicles, aiming to become a national and global hub for technology innovation in the hydrogen energy industry and serve as a demonstration base for diverse applications across various scenarios.

Traffic jams

SHENZHEN traffic police are urging residents and visitors to utilize public transportation for commuting to the 2023 Shenzhen Bougainvillea Show at Lianhua Hill Park in Futian District, as the roads surrounding the park experienced serious congestion over the weekend.

Due to the flower show, the park’s parking lots are temporarily closed, prompting drivers to resort to roadside parking and exacerbating traffic congestion in the area.

The annual flower show will last until Sunday.

New routes

YANTIAN International Container Terminals (YICT) has recently opened two combined port routes connecting the port with Xiaolan Port in Zhongshan and Gaoxin Port in Jiangmen.

Freight shipments from Xiaolan and Gaoxin ports will no longer require secondary customs checks when exported through the Yantian port. The practice cuts the inventory cycle time from seven to two days, resulting in cost savings for enterprises.
