WHETHER you are a snorkeler, wanting to zip around the shallow reefs, or a techie looking for a little bit extra oomph, an underwater scooter is a helpful tool that allows you to go full ironman when snorkeling, a significant enhancement when diving, and a fun toy for kids in the pool.

Shenzhen Waydoo Intelligence Technology Co. Ltd. has brought its highly sought-after underwater scooter named Subnado to the China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) again this year. The product made its debut at last year’s CHTF, and has been recognized as an excellent innovation by the CHTF organizing committee.

Established in 2018 in Shenzhen, Waydoo is a tech company dedicated to the development, manufacturing, and marketing of intelligent water sports hardware.

The Subnado underwater scooter, also known as DPV (diver propulsion vehicle), offers an exhilarating experience for divers and water enthusiasts alike.

“The compact and lightweight scooter is easy to mount and dismount on arms, legs, and paddleboards, allowing people to glide through the water easily,” Qiu Sheng, manager of the company’s operation department, said.

Meanwhile, unlike other underwater scooters that require one to grab the handle with both hands, Subnado can be controlled using a thumb controller. With a unique jet propulsion design, the underwater scooter can easily operate to depths of 60 meters and speeds of up to 1.4 meters per second.

“As the world’s first propulsion product with USB-C fast-charging system, Subnado can be fully charged within 1.2 hours. It also has a reverse charging function, which means it can be used as a rechargeable battery in cases of emergency,” Qiu said.

He added that the launch of Subnado has filled the gap in the high-quality and low-cost underwater scooter market, and it immediately became a hit due to its high cost-effectiveness.

Another product on display is Waydoo’s Flyer One Plus, the latest generation of efoil the company has developed. Efoil is a surfboard with an electric propeller. It allows the rider to glide through the water for 120 minutes at exhilarating speeds.

According to Qiu, “The battery is unique as it is also the deck of the board compared to other efoils that have batteries within the board.” He added that since its launch, the efoil has been popular in the European and American markets.

“CHTF provides an excellent display platform for technological and innovation-oriented enterprises. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase what we have at the fair,” Qiu said.
