A SMART graphene-based suspended moxibustion machine displayed at the 25th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) enticed many visitors to try out.

The equipment, developed by Grahope New Materials Technologies Corp. (GNM Group), made a breakthrough in combining traditional Chinese moxibustion treatment with modern graphene-induced hyperthermia.

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese treatment that involves burning ground mugwort to warm certain points on your body. Graphene has excellent electrical, thermal, and mechanical conductivity, as well as broad prospects for medical applications.

The smart graphene-based suspended moxibustion device was finally launched after over 40 months of research and development, with the cooperation of 35 engineers and five medical experts, according to the firm.

It uses the far-infrared photothermal technology of single-layer graphene crystal material and has 200 degrees Celsius and 235 degrees Celsius high-temperature moxibustion technology, which can simulate several methods of moxibustion such as sparrow-pecking moxibustion.

The innovative medical device is expected to improve the treatment of many diseases, leading to patients’ better health and quality of life.

With the advantage of GNM Group’s core technology, the company has been focusing on the research and development of graphene-based heating applications, ranging from health care wearables, home textiles, garments, home heating systems, and coating powder.

GNM Group was founded in 2015 by Feng Guanping, founding dean of the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen.

Several products developed by GNM Group have obtained the national Class II medical device qualification certification.
