OVER the past 20 years, the China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) has witnessed the growth of the technology sector in Shenzhen and its increasing influence beyond the region. It serves as a quality platform for local companies to gain recognition and investment. Notable examples include the USB flash disk, which gained popularity after its debut at the first CHTF, outshining compact disks and floppy disks. Tencent also had its breakthrough with the help of CHTF, securing crucial funding for its QQ product, laying a foundation for its success in the internet industry. Each year, numerous local enterprises present their latest technologies and products, attracting investments and support for industrialization and internationalization. The event facilitates economic and technological exchanges among countries and regions. Shenzhen leverages its leading role in the Greater Bay Area to involve nearby cities such as Shantou and Foshan, fostering mutual growth and showcasing technological achievements. Moreover, CHTF invites participants from around the world, with more than 105 countries and regions participating in the 25th edition this year. Countries included in the Belt and Road Initiative have found CHTF to be a platform for promoting their scientific and technological innovation while fostering connectivity with China.
