Prefabricated power distribution station in use
    2023-11-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CHINA Southern Power Grid (CSG)’s first prefabricated near-zero carbon power distribution station, also known as the “power magic cube,” was put into use in Shenzhen recently, marking CSG’s latest progress in green and low-carbon transformation, Shenzhen Evening News reported.

Upon the station’s operation, the power supply capacity per unit floor area in the northern area of Wanfengcun in Xinqiao Subdistrict, Bao’an District will reach 43 watts per square meter, higher than the level of a garden-style residential compound. The station is expected to meet the area’s demand for load growth for the next decade.

The “power magic cube” is designed to have a service life exceeding 50 years, and the entire station can be safely dismantled or relocated in the future. Notably, certain components of the station, such as intelligent sensors and zero-carbon equipment, were prefabricated, allowing for the completion of station construction in just seven days.

According to Ma Weizhe, vice manager of the engineering department at CSG Shenzhen branch, the use of prefabricated parts has shortened the station’s construction period by 86%, compared to traditional methods. This approach can also minimize dust and noise in the surrounding area, mitigating disruptions to people’s daily lives, Ma said.

Urban villages have long faced challenges with power supply facilities, including dilapidation, equipment overload, tangled power lines, and safety hazards. The transformation process often involves lengthy construction cycles and uncontrollable quality. In response to these issues, CSG Shenzhen branch developed the “power magic cube,” which can be designed with different themed appearances to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
