Volkswagen China Technology Co. (VCTC), Volkswagen Group’s largest development center outside Germany, will develop a new platform for entry-level electric vehicles (EVs) in China and use more local components to lower costs.

报道中的entry-level就是“入门级”，用于产品指配置低的版本，用于工作指初级、对技能要求不高、薪水也不高的工作。例如：

In Silicon Valley, entry-level salaries are often more than US$150,000 per year and employees expect fancy perks and 35-hour work weeks.
