SHENZHEN will share its green and low-carbon practices in fields such as transport, construction, and logistics at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) that started Thursday in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

The Shenzhen Session, scheduled for tomorrow as part of China’s pavilion, will highlight exemplary cases of local firms contributing to China’s dual carbon goals.

According to the Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, the Shenzhen Session will feature speeches from representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, international organizations, and the Shenzhen environmental authorities. The event aims to focus on low-carbon development and will include report releases and signing of cooperation agreements.

This is the first time for China’s pavilion to host local special sessions at a COP, with other sessions planned for Beijing, Shanghai, as well as Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces.

“As a pioneering city for the implementation of carbon markets and committed to low-carbon development, Shenzhen will actively engage in various side events during the conference to learn from the exemplary experiences of other cities and endeavor to make greater contributions to the global efforts in combating climate change,” Liu Chang, deputy director of the Climate Change Department at the Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, said in an interview Saturday.

The conference, running from Nov. 30 to Dec. 12, has drawn over 70,000 delegates from around the globe in a collective effort to address pressing climate issues. The conference serves as a platform to formulate global solutions for the benefit of the planet and humanity, Xinhua News Agency reported.
