THE list of the Top 10 Helpers for Persons with Disabilities for the Year 2023 was unveiled at a ceremony at the Shenzhen Book City CBD Store on Sunday, coinciding with International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Released by the Shenzhen Federation for Persons with Disabilities, the list features remarkable individuals such as Xin Junhui, a legal professional offering pro bono services, Jiang Wenshan, the initiator of the “Shake Hands With the World” project, collecting 89,000 handshakes globally with his left half limb from 180 cities, Pan Qi, a doctor providing treatment for persons with deformities across 17 provinces, and Chen Qiong, an entrepreneur who donated 5 million yuan (US$706,236) to hospitals and people affected by leprosy.

In October, the federation launched the selection process for the top 10 helpers and top 10 enterprises and institutions dedicated to aiding persons with disabilities, receiving a total of 94 applications.

During Sunday’s ceremony, recognition was extended to the “Angel” Outlet of KFC, Shenzhen Hexi Industrial Holdings Co. Ltd., the Shenzhen Yinhua Public Welfare Foundation, and seven other enterprises and institutions for their contributions to aiding persons with disabilities.

Shenzhen Hexi Industrial Holdings stands out for providing employment and training opportunities for persons with disabilities, while the Shenzhen Yinhua Public Welfare Foundation has made significant contributions, with a donation of nearly 500,000 yuan for an education project for the children of persons with disabilities.
