AMAZON Global Selling (AGS) announced the launch of its Asia-Pacific innovation center in Qianhai during the Amazon Global Selling Seller Conference in Shenzhen on Tuesday. It is AGS’s first innovation center in the world.

The innovation center will be committed to exploring innovative mechanisms, conducting innovative practices, and promoting innovative achievements for the global cross-border e-commerce industry, AGS said.

It will integrate resources from Amazon, industry organizations, experts and scholars, and third-party service providers to galvanize sellers in the Asia-Pacific region to accelerate innovation in areas such as product promotion, brand building, digital operations, green development, and the exploration of new business models.

At the conference, AGS reviewed Chinese sellers’ progress and achievements over the past year on Amazon, one of the world’s largest online retailers, and unveiled its five key business strategies for 2024, as well as a series of new tools and seller service upgrades.

AGS also announced the establishment of five regional centers in East China, South China, West China, North China, and Central China. The event marked the opening of Supply Chain Amazon, a fully automated set of supply chain services by Amazon, to Chinese sellers.

Cindy Tai, vice president and head of Asia Global Selling at Amazon, said that the cross-border e-commerce industry is increasingly becoming a new driving force for China’s foreign trade, and it is also at an important period to shift towards high-quality development.

“In 2024, AGS will speed up innovation in key cross-border e-commerce business links and collaborate with Chinese sellers for high-quality growth. The launch of the Asia-Pacific innovation center symbolizes the beginning of this new journey,” Tai said.

According to the Shenzhen Municipal Commerce Bureau, Shenzhen’s export trajectory has maintained robust momentum, with a growth rate exceeding 15% in the first three quarters of this year. The city’s cross-border e-commerce sector has grown by over 70% year on year, ranking among the top in the country.

Amazon data shows that over the past year, the number of Chinese sellers with sales exceeding US$1 million and US$10 million on Amazon has increased by over 25% and nearly 30% year on year, respectively. The quantity of products sold by Chinese sellers to consumers and corporate customers through Amazon’s global websites has grown by over 20% from a year ago.

AGS, a program enabling sellers to list and sell products on Amazon marketplaces in Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas, officially entered China in 2015. Currently, 18 Amazon websites in various countries are accessible to Chinese sellers.
