PASSENGER turnover at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport has exceeded 50 million trips this year, marking a return to pre-pandemic levels seen in 2019, according to sources from the airport yesterday.

As of now, flights from the airport connect Shenzhen with about 130 cities nationwide. Notably, the Shenzhen airport has successfully resumed and expanded 22 international routes and routes to China’s Taiwan, covering 35 cities across five continents. The airport now hosts over 600 weekly inbound and outbound international flights, data indicates.

At a ceremony Tuesday, the Shenzhen airport, in collaboration with various airlines, introduced express routes linking Shenzhen with 13 domestic airports in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Chongqing, Xi’an, Kunming, Haikou, and Qingdao.

Around 600 flights a day, more than half of the total flights, are scheduled to operate on the routes between Shenzhen and the 13 airports. Among them, daily flights to and from Beijing and Shanghai each exceed 100 a day. Flights to and from other cities such as Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, and Chongqing each stand at around 50 a day.
