    2023-12-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Shenzhen University Table Tennis Club emerged triumphant in the 2023 China Table Tennis Super League (CTTSL) Women’s Finals, securing their second championship since 2020.

The finals took place Sunday at the Longhua Cultural and Sports Center, featuring a 3-2 victory over the Shandong Luneng Table Tennis Club.

In the women’s finals against the Shandong Luneng Table Tennis Club, the Shenzhen University team secured a 3-2 victory, gaining the top of the league.

Renowned as one of the most challenging table tennis competitions globally, Sunday’s match attracted some of the sport’s most talented players. Sun Yingsha, ranked No. 1 in the world, and Chen Meng, ranked No. 2 in the world, joined forces with Kuai Man and Yang Huijing to represent the Shenzhen team. The Shandong team also sent strong players who ranked third, sixth, and seventh in the world.

“I’m super delighted that we won the competition. Every point was fiercely contested,” Sun said, adding that the intense competitions showed both teams’ high-level skills.

“Fans from Shenzhen and Shenzhen University alumni! How will you celebrate today?” Chen took the mic and rallied the on-site fans after the competition.

Chen’s professional journey is closely tied to Shenzhen University, where she pursued her studies before joining the university’s professional club. “I gave my all in this competition. Winning is my way of showing appreciation to my alma mater and the fans in Shenzhen,” she said.
