Illustrations

Now through Jan. 9, 2024, visitors can admire illustrations in various styles at the “Beauty of Life” exhibition at Dawan Ancestral Residence. The free exhibition integrates vibrant illustration art into the centuries-old Hakka compound, providing locals with a new perspective on life.

‘Vision and Gaze’

The “Vision and Gaze” exhibition, running until Feb. 28, 2024, features figure and portrait paintings on loan from the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum in Japan. The exhibition showcases 56 masterpieces created from the 16th to the 20th century by renowned artists. Viewers are having a rare opportunity to admire iconic paintings, such as Giorgio de Chirico’s “Hector and Andromache,” Marc Chagall’s “The Circus” and René Magritte’s “Abstract Idea.”

He Xiangning’s paintings

To commemorate the 145th anniversary of Chinese revolutionary and artist He Xiangning’s birth, an exhibition examining her life and paintings is being held through May 5, 2024. The exhibition features over 40 of He’s paintings and calligraphic works. Visitors can admire He’s classic flower, animal and landscape paintings on paper or silk scrolls.

Shiota Chiharu’s art and more

The Shenzhen Art Museum (new venue) is hosting several exhibitions. One exhibition that should not be missed is “Shiota Chiharu: The Soul Trembles,” featuring several large installations woven with yarn.
