22 SZ-made satellites sent into space in one year
    2024-01-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN has proved itself again to be a city with mature industrial satellite smart manufacturing capacity as another four locally made meteorological satellites were successfully launched into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China on Friday.

Developed by Shenzhen-based MagicCubeSat Technology Co. Ltd., the satellites, belonging to the Tianmu-1 meteorological constellation, will provide commercial meteorological data services.

As of today, a total of 22 satellites belonging to the Tianmu constellation, all made by the Shenzhen company, have been running in their established orbits.

By leveraging rapid assembly of key satellite components and batch satellite production, MagicCubeSat has had 22 self-developed satellites successfully launched in a year, setting a record with launches of 12 satellites in 10 days.

Shenzhen is a key hub for the development of small satellites in China, leading in satellite design, integrated comprehensive electronic systems, and technological research. Its mature electronic information technology, new materials, and new energy industries have contributed significantly to satellite development. Shenzhen has  developed the world’s first pulsar test satellite, and China’s first batch-produced small satellite constellation and first polar remote sensing satellite. These satellites, weighing from a few kilograms to several hundred kilograms, are used for technological experiments, communication, navigation, remote sensing, and atmospheric observation.

Meanwhile, Shenzhen has become a key player in the development of China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, with its sound chip industry chain.

The mass consumer market is an important domain for expanding BeiDou applications and fostering new dynamics in the BeiDou industry ecosystem. Many people are unaware that the shared bicycles they’ve ridden, the drones they’ve flown, and the smartphones and cars they’re currently using may be powered by a Shenzhen-made chip.

Shenzhen Huada BeiDou Technology Co. Ltd., which focuses on the independent design and development of satellite navigation positioning chips, algorithms, and products, has produced multiple industry-leading BeiDou navigation positioning chips.

These chips are widely used in consumer electronics, shared mobility, the Internet of Things, connected vehicles, weather detection, and smart driving.
