AROUND 150 attendees, comprising both local Chinese residents and expatriates, were treated to a Baroque concert at the Sky Concert Hall on the 71st floor of One Shenzhen Bay T7 in Nanshan District on Friday.

The concert, jointly presented by the Shanghai Camerata and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, featured a repertoire of over 10 Baroque compositions, including masterpieces by renowned musicians such as George Frideric Händel, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The musicians’ performance garnered enthusiastic applause from the audience, who not only relished the melodious pieces but also gained valuable insights into the instruments used and the historical evolution of Baroque music during the intervals.

Kate Cristina Nascimento Guimaraes from Brazil expressed her amazement at the beauty of Baroque music, describing the event as an excellent opportunity to explore the diversity of musical expressions within society.

Don Orfeo Rechtman from the U.S. remarked that he felt like he had been transported back to the 16th century. He compared the concert hall to Carnegie Hall in New York City and commended the sincerity and authenticity of the countertenor and all the performers. “I’m thrilled to have experienced such an exceptional concert,” he added.
