City steps up greening efforts
    2024-01-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

An aerial view of Ejingshui Wetland Park, which is referred to as the “green lung” of Guangming District. Shenzhen has recently issued this year’s first forest chief order, aiming to accelerate the city’s spring afforestation and greening initiatives. The order emphasizes meticulous planning for accessible green spaces such as parks, riverbanks, natural reserves, and coastlines. The establishment of seedling reserves on vacant lands and the selection of appropriate tree species have also been encouraged. China rolled out the forest chief scheme nationwide in 2022, seeking to strengthen ecological protection and the restoration of forests and grasslands.                  Shenzhen Evening News
