IVAN TIMOFEEV, director general of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), noted that there’s huge room for cooperation with Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU), the first Sino-Russian cooperative university, during his visit Thursday.

Timofeev is leading a delegation from RIAC to visit Shenzhen from Wednesday to Friday, calling for deeper cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, culture and arts, and education.

During the visit, Timofeev commended SMBU for its achievements since its establishment and proposed the integration of resources from universities and enterprises, which is currently a key development direction of universities in Russia.

Li Hezhang, rector of SMBU, welcomed the opportunity to strengthen cooperation and understanding with RIAC, along with its member universities and research institutes, aiming for future progress.

According to Li, about 240 international students are now studying at SMBU, with 95% of them coming from Russia.

Timofeev highlighted the significance of Shenzhen’s growth for Russia, emphasizing the need for in-depth study by Russian experts and scholars.

The delegation met with Lin Jie, chairwoman of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, on Wednesday.

They also visited local company Hytera, Linhua Hill Park, and the Shenzhen Reform and Opening-up Exhibition Hall during their three-day city tour.
